Fishing development in Batticaloa

The fishing industry affected by the war and Tsunami in the east is to be developed under the Rise of the East Scheme.

A fishing harbour is to be constructed in Kalkudah with Rs. 250 million from the Asian Development Bank.

11,382 families of the Batticaloa District are depending on lake fishing and 10,835 families on sea fishing. All steps are being taken to ameliorate the living conditions of these people.
