The Livestock Development Ministry has allocated Rs. 3 million to import milking cows of high breed from India.

Two hundred Moora cows are to be imported before December in the first instance. This action is being taken to make the people use cows milk as 60 thousand metric ton milk powder is being imported annually and the government is spending Rs. 13,000 million for this purpose. In order to reduce the expenditure by 50 per cent the government is taking this step to encourage people in cow breeding and to increase the milk production.
