The MLAs of the Tamil Nadu Congress Party has passed a resolution that the pro LTTE political parties in Tamil Nadu be proscribed.

The 23 members of the state assembly were present at a consultative meeting of the Congress party presided over by its Chairman D. Sudarshan.

The Congress is deeply concerned about certain pro LTTE parties that conduct condolence meetings, seminars etc. Granting permission to meetings in support of proscribed parties is surprising and has the potential to create violent situations in Tamil Nadu. In this context, we reiterate that the Pro LTTE parties in Tamil Nadu should be banned, the resolution said.
