21 Sri Lankans arrested in Iraq

The Iraq soldiers took 21 Sri Lankans, who were employees of an American Company in Iraq, into custody.

 

While they were on their way to the work site, the guards in their private convoy opened fire in Baghdad, wounding one woman and subsequently they were arrested.

Altogether 43 persons were arrested. They were 21 Sri Lankans, 2 US Security guards, 9 Nepalese and 10 Iraqis. The company is based in Dubai protecting US diplomats and supplying food, potable water and other essential goods to the US army in accordance with the trade agreement. They entered Iraq with the US forces. They are engaged in infrastructure activities also in Iraq.
