image   Minister W.D.J. Senevirathne says the government has taken no decision regarding an increase in electricity charges. He said the power generation could drop in the next few months as a result of a lack of rain but the government does not plan to have electricity cuts. He said power generation of the Kerawalapitiya power plant will commence mid this year. Speaking at the cabinet press briefing at the parliamentary complex on Thursday the Minister said the new power plant will add 170 megawatts to the national grid.  Meanwhile Cabinet has granted approval to a proposal to implement a high density multi-storey special housing project in the Trincomalee Town. Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa says the project took into consideration the urgent necessity of re-locating the tsunami affected families. Under the project 80 housing units will be constructed. Cabinet has also granted approval to launch a Digital education project. The project aims at giving rural students the opportunity to engage in real-time interactive learning from experienced teachers. The Cabinet approval has been granted to amend the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Act No. 21 of 1985.
