World Bank and the European Union have agreed to further assist a housing scheme for displaced persons in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
Advisor to the ministry of Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development M.S. Jayasinghe says the two world bodies made this decision as they have noted a success in this housing scheme.
Accordingly, Sri Lanka will receive another 7 billion rupees to provide houses for displaced persons. The programme has been implemented in the 8 districts of these two provinces.
50 thousand displaced families have so far received housing loans through funds provided by WB and the EU earlier.
