New houses will be provided to 24 families who lost their land and properties due to the construction of Upper Kotmale Hydro Power Plant.
The deeds will be handed over to them by Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne at a function to be held at his ministry tomorrow.
The project, of which construction commenced in March 2006, displaced 495 families. The housing scheme includes child day care center, community hall, water tank and a library.
The Upper Kotmale Power Plant will generate 150 megawatts of electricity by 2010. It will add 400 million units to the national grid annually. The estimated cost for the project is around 600 million rupees. The JAICA will provide the required financial assistance.
