Parents should not entertain undue fears regarding the security of school children-SL government

Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara says parents should not entertain undue fears regarding the security of school children.
 A special security programme is now underway with the assistance of security forces.
 He said there are no plans to close schools indefinitely.  The Brigadier said a special programme has also been put in place to ensure the security of bus and train passengers. He advised the public not to lingering in cites of explosion paving the way to another tragic incident. 
The public was also requested not to spread false rumours. The military spokesman also said that all security measures have been taken with regard to the Deyata Kirula national exhibition to commence on Thursday.
 Meanwhile Secretary to the Ministry of Education Nimal Bandara advises principals to regularize security activities in and around schools.  The principals have been asked not to send children out of schools to participate in sports or any other event. All officials of the zonal and divisional education offices should conduct talks with principals daily regarding security arrangements in schools.  Minister Susil Premajayantha has also informed the principals to obtain the police security on every possible occasion. 

The  the education ministry extends its condolences to the families of students and the coach of D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya in Colombo and the students of the Holy Family Convent in Dehiwala who were killed in the bomb blast in Colombo Fort railway station last Sunday.
