The proposal to extend emergency regulation by another month was passed in parliament today by a majority of 84 votes. 103 votes were cast in favour of the proposal 19 against it.
Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna voted for proposal along with the ruling party. MPs of the Tamil National Alliance and the MPs of the Muslim Congress who were  sitting in opposition  voted against it.
The united National Party abstained from voting.
