22 terrorists killed & 40 anti- personnel mines recovered by the Army

A total of twenty two (22) LTTE terrorists were killed and three bunkers were completely destroyed during confrontations with the Army in the VAVUNIYA area on Thursday(07).
Ten (10) of the 22 terrorists were killed in a confrontation around UMAYARATUVARANKULAM area around 8.15 in the morning and a T56 assault rifle was recovered thereafter in a search operation conducted by troops.

Two (02) terrorists were reported killed when troops attacked and destroyed completely a terrorist bunker in NARIKKULAM area, VAVUNYA at 12.15 in the afternoon.
Six terrorists were killed and eight were reported injured when Troops attacked and destroyed two terrorist bunkers in the PERIYAPANDIVIRICHCHAN area in a fierce attack which lasted 10 minutes between 3.10 an 3.20 in the afternoon . Six soldiers were also reported injured in the attack while TWO terrorists were killed in a confrontation in the VILAYATHIKULAM area, VAVUNIYA around 4.40 in the evening. In this incident, a soldier was reported injured.
40 Anti - personnel mines were recovered in the ongoing search operations conducted by Troops in the MULLIKULAM area, VAVUNIYA on Thursday (07).
