Veteran SLFP politician Reggie Ranatunga will succeed the late MP Sripathi Sooriyarachchi as the next elected MP from the Gampaha District.

Mr. Ranatunga came 11th on the preference list in the district polling 54,414 votes. He is presently the Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province and is the father of MP Arjuna Ranatunga.
Meanwhile family sources of the late Sripathy Sooriyarachchi said the funeral of the late  parliamentarian will be held on Wednesday at Kadana .
