Sirasa News Director attempted to abduct
The News Director of Sirasa Media Network Susil Kindelpitiya complained to the Police Headquarters that two unidentified persons followed him with an intention of causing harm.
He says in his complaint lodged in Police that he has fears about his life since the spate of intimidations on the media workers during the past period and due to reporting of such incidents and other news through Sirasa Media Network.
Mr. Kindelpitiya says that two unidentified persons staying near the main road were noted by his driver when he was travelling to office. One of the two persons was giving a phone call to someone from his mobile phone. The vehicle was diverted to an alternative road to office.
Later in the evening Mr. Kindelpitiya came in his vehicle to Kolonnawa via Gothatuwa New Town and after exercising he went to Salamulla junction in the vehicle. Then he got down near the bund and said to his driver to wait at the other end of the bund to take him. While he was jogging along the bund, the driver came and said in exited tone that someone opened the door of the vehicle, said, "No one is there," and shut the door.
Then he saw two persons clad in similar clothe of the officials of Ministerial Security Division were looking at him. Later he went to that place with a friend but no one was there.
Afterthat, when he was travelling in the vehicle to a friend?s house in Kotte, he saw a double cab was following him between Gothatuwa and Rajagiriya. He drew the vehicle fast not allowing overtaking him and went to his destination.
Mr. Kindelpitiya previously lodged a complaint in Maharagama Police following threats over the phone following telecasting Minister Mervin Silva's drama in Rupavahini Corporation and a documentary on it named 'Missed Target'.
Meanwhile, a politician in Kolonnawa is also excited following Sirasa Media Network broadcast news on a certain gang unearthing an expired stock of sugar buried in a cemetery in Kolonawa and supplying them to shops. The entire stock of sugar was not destroyed as ordered by the courts, sources say. The value of the stock of sugar is around Rs. Eight million.
