A strategy to seek the involvement of all opposition MPs with the government in the development process is to be prepared.

President Mahinda Rajapakse revealed this when Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anders B. Johnson called on him. The President said he is desirous of vesting some part of the work and responsibilities in all people’s representatives. He hopes to strengthen the parliamentary system bringing together all political parties, sans party differences. Mr. Johnson intimated to the Mr. Rajapakse matters that were raised during discussions with several legislators. Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe, UNDP Resident Representative Miguel Bermeo and Peace Secretariat Chief Dr. Palitha Kohona were present at this meeting.
