Teachers sick note campaign partly success

Most of government schools were closed due to the poor attendance of the teachers and the education authorities say attendance of the children also declined due to the sick note campaign organized by some teachers trade unions .
However some Regional education directors say teachers’ presence in schools was at a satisfactory level today. Additional secretary to the provincial education ministry     G. Sederahetti said  that academic activities of schools in the western province were conducted as usual since almost all teachers reported for duty today.
 Zonal Education Director of the Central Province noted the same situation in schools in the area. 

Zonal education director of the southern province said teachers reported for duty as usual.  In the north western province teachers turn over today was between 75 and 80 percent.  Zonal education director of the province Asoka Jayasinghe said academic activities of the schools were conducted without any disruption.  Academic activities of the Uva, north central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces were conducted as usual since the turnover of teachers and children were at a higher level.
