SL Police commemorates 144th police heroes day

Today the police department commemorates 144th police heroes day.
A special function has been organised in this regard at Field Police Headquarters in Bambalapitiya this morning. IGP Victor Perera participated at this function as the chief guest.
Then first hero of the police department was the police constable identified as Sabhan who was killed when he went to arrest the Uthuwan Kande Saradiyel. This took place in 1964 on day like this.
Up to now there were 3045 police personnel who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland from that date. The parents and the relatives of those heroes will be felicitated annually on this day.
