The Ministry of Health says the temporary shortage of medicine in hospitals in the Northern Province will be eased in the next few days.

Medicine requirements for the 1st quarter of this year have already been supplied. The Medical Supply Unit of the Ministry says medicines required for the 2nd quarter of the year are now being shipped. This information was revealed at a meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The Ministry sends most of the stocks of medicine via sea and medicines that should be stored in refrigerators are transported by air. Therefore the Ministry said only a few stocks of such medicines could be transported at a time to these hospitals in the north.
