GOSL is at the negotiating table not to pacify the LTTE

Government is optimistic that Geneva talks will be a firm foundation for a permanent solution to the long- standing ethnic issue. Government does not wish to participate at the talks with the intention to pacifying the LTTE. It is participating at the talks with a keen interest to bring a just and lasting solution to Tamil problems, Minister of Planning and Plan Implementation and Defense Spokesman, Keheliya Rambukewella.

Government delegation will mainly concentrate on seven points, such as, respecting democracy, providing viability for other political parties too to actively involve in politics, respecting human rights, stopping child conscription, accelerating north and east development, political solution through devolution of power and pluralism, the Minister said further.
