Ninety million US$ for southern highway

The Asian Development Bank provides an additional loan of 90 million US dollars for the southern highway project.

The relevant agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance today. The proceeds of the additional loan will be utilized to construct a four lane highway from Kurudugaha-Hetekma to Pinnaduwa interchange and the Galle access road. The loan also includes funds to purchase road safety equipment.

It is expected to complete the project by the end of December 2009. The road development authority has implemented this project.
