The LTTE has not given its consent to transport goods to Jaffna by sea.

Hence the government has decided to transport the goods under the UN flag and the President has taken up this matter with the UN Secretary said the Minister of Disaster Management, Mahinda Samarasinghe.

Shortages in Jaffna for essential goods such as rice, flour, sugar, infant milk foods etc. continues, Jaffna sources said.  At the same time the parcels accepted by private firms to transport to Jaffna were returned to senders, as there is no air transport.
