World Bank grants 7.2 billion rupees to Sri Lanka
The World Bank grants 7.2 billion rupees for the development of another large scale development project in Sri Lanka.
The International Development of the World Bank has granted this amount for the project of dam safety and water resources management.
The Ministry of Finance said the funds will be utilized to ensure safety of selected high risk dams. Under this programme 32 large scale dams will be rehabilitated.
This project will be implemented by the Ministry of Finance and Planning with the assistance of Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Services and the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Management. Measures have been taken to complete this project within four years.
The relevant agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday . Secretary to the Finance Ministry Dr.P.B. Jayasundera and the country- Director of World Bank to Navoko Ishi has signed the agreement on behalf of the respective parties.
