Bomb blast in Wellawatta

18 passengers injured due to a bomb explosion along the rail track between Wellawatta and Dehiwala railway stations , the Police said.The bomb has been exploded around 7.15 a.m. this morning.It is believed that the bomb had been triggered off targeting the Colombo bound highly crowed passenger train.

Local news services said the suspect was seen carrying the bomb by the people from the surrounding area. When the crowd noticed the suspect bomber they had shouted upon which he had thrown the bomb at the railway track and fled. The train had just passed by when the blast occurred and it is alleged that he had intended to target the second carriage.
Meanwhile Police and Security Forces closed  roads of the area and launched a search operation.
