Case against Sannasgala in Kandy MC

Kandy Chief Magistrate Sumudu Premachandra had on Friday ordered the Special Crime Division of the Kandy Police to obtain the Attorney General’s advice to file charges against popular tutor, Upul Shantha Sannasgala over preparing a document with a fake signature.

The police it is learnt had informed the Magistrate that an examiner of questioned documents had verified the document as a fake.

Sannasgala is accused of preparing a document to prove that one Wijesuriya, an owner of several private tuition institutions in Kandy had obtained Rs. 600,000 from him.

Sannasgala was released on bail amounting to Rs. 5,000 and personal sureties and the Kandy Chief Magistrate had ordered him to appear before court on August 29.

Sannasgala, who initially agreed to contest the Sabaragamuwa PC elections under the UNP ticket suddenly withdrew last week.
