SC dismisses FR plea against Bribery Comm.
The Supreme Court yesterday dismissed the fundamental rights violation application, filed by A. S. Ravinkumar, against the Permanent Commission to Investigate Bribery and Corruption.
The petitioner alleged that Pharma Associates had credited a large sum of money to the account of Dr. Ajith Mendis, Director General of Health Services. The petitioners had complained to the Bribery Commission about this incident but the Commission had failed to investigate the issue.
Yesterday, when the case was called before the Supreme Court, the Counsel for the Commission submitted to the Court a completed investigation report done by the Commission, in respect of this issue.
Disna Gurusinghe appeared for the Commission.
Romesh de Silva PC, appeared with Sugath Caldera and Eraj de Silva for Dr. Mendis.
The Bench comprised Justice Shirani Tilakawardene, Justice Andrew Somawansa, and Justice P. A. Ratnayake.
