Satellite coverage for Randoli Perahara

 Arrangements have been made for a live telecast of the final night of the Randoli Perahera, of the annual Esala Perahera of Kandy, via Satellite to 125 countries, Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara said yesterday.
The final Randoli Perahera, known as the Maha Perahera of the historic Esala pageant, is held in the night of August 17. The Perahera begins on August 07.

Last years' Maha Perahera was telecast live through the satellite to 105 foreign countries and the perahera gained popularity among spectators worldwide, the Diyawadana Nilame told a news conference at the Sri Dalada Maligawa yesterday.

Sri Dalada Maligawa received at least 16,000 Email messages from foreign spectators commending the Perahera, he said.

About 300 foreigners have already said that they would be arriving in Kandy to view this years procession, he said.

He said he had invited the Queen of Thailand to view the Esala Perahera.
