All persons and vehicles entering the high security zones in Colombo during the SAARC summit would have to carry with them a valid pass issued by the police, DIG for Colombo Nimal Mediwaka said.

He said that the passes are being issued with effect from today and can be obtained from the Kollupitiya and Fort police stations.

The passes will be effective from July 30 until the summit is over on August 3 and the passes would have to be obtained in advance.

The pass system will apply for all persons working within the high security zone area which encompasses the Fort and Kollupitiya areas.

Persons traveling in vehicles will only be able to take along them only persons who possess the pass.

DIG Mediwaka said that only a limited number of passes will be issued.
