Tense situation in Slave Island -SC suspended the demolition

A tense situation has erupted in Slave Island as authorities demolish unauthorized shanties located near the railway track.The demolition of the unauthorized buildings in Slave Island has been resumed. The UDA claims to not have received any written notification for suspension.
However the demolition of unauthorized buildings in Slave Island was suspended following a stay order by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile Sri Lanka's leading English daily - Daily Mirror said its  journalist Yohan Perera and staff photographer Pradeep Dilrukshana have been assaulted by officials of the Urban Development Authority(UDA) while they were at the Slave Island demolition site covering the incident.
