Dialog GSM, Sri Lanka’s largest mobile communications service operator announced the introduction of ‘Mobile Cert’, an Instant Electronic Certificate which enables customers to establish ownership of their mobile phone anytime, anywhere by simply dialing #132# or by sending an SMS to 132 through their Dialog mobiles. Dialog GSM is the first mobile telecommunications operator in the country to pioneer a validation system on a mobile platform.

The Mobile Communications technology based electronic/digital certificate is “tamper proof and singularly authentic and credible” said Supun Weerasinghe Chief Operating Officer for Dialog Mobile. “Dialog’s technology platform will produce an unique electronic certificate each time the system is queried, and will deliver the same to the mobile phone within seconds. In addition to the high degree of authenticity attached to an electronic certificate, this form of ownership verification and validation is extremely convenient for mobile phones users” he added.

Based on the company’s commitment to providing the very best in service and technology, the new electronic ownership certificate will eliminate the need to carry any tangible form of proof material making Mobile Cert a convenient, secure and easy to use authentication method for all Dialog GSM customers.

Dialog GSM customers can check and validate their existing records by simply dialing #132# or by typing NAME and sending it to 132. In the event ownership data is in need of correction, Dialog GSM customers are invited to visit any Dialog Customer Service Centre with a copy of their National Identity Card. In the event the NIC photograph does not provide a true likeness to the current appearance of the customer, Dialog would require a recent passport size colour photograph in order to complete the registration process.

Dialog Telekom’s extensive service network consisting of more than Eighty (80) on-line service centres along with the company’s award winning and highly proficient service team will assist customers in ensuring that accurate ownership data is registered with the company. While corporate clients will be advised of the applicable data registration processes in due course, all supplementary connection holders, including Minors should be registered at a Dialog service centre by the primary subscriber. All service related to ownership data validation and registration would be provided free of charge without any change to existing Tariff Plan or Package benefits.

“At Dialog Telekom we have been consistently committed to promoting the responsible use of mobile devices, while in parallel developing Sri Lanka’s mobile communications technology to a level on par with global standards. We fully endorse the endeavors of the TRCSL to establish an environment where mobile consumers are assured of the comfort of ownership validation on an ongoing basis. The Mobile Cert service provided by Dialog assists our valued customers to verify ownership data pertaining to their mobile connection, affirm the same and thereafter be in a position to establish ownership of their mobile connection in a convenient manner” said, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Telekom PLC. “We request our valued customers to join with us in implementing this mobile ownership validation exercise which has been initiated in the interest of consumer safety and national security”.
