Dialog Telekom Strategic Partner Communications and Broadband for INFOTEL 2008

 Demonstrating its commitment to add value to the Information Communication Technology (ICT) industry in the country, Dialog Telekom, Sri Lanka's leading telecommunications service provider, has come forward to sponsor Infotel 2008 as the strategic partner- Communications and Broadband. Infotel 2008 is one of the biggest ICT showcases in Sri Lanka.

The week long ICT event commencing on the 27th of October, will bring together various segments of the IT industry including industry experts, professionals, academics and the user community on to a single platform.

Speaking on the company's sponsorship, Mr. Thivanka Rangala, Group Chief Commercial Officer, Dialog Telekom said, "As front-runners in technological advancements in Sri Lanka, we're extremely glad to partner Infotel 2008 as strategic partner- Communications and Broadband. We believe that this event will be an ideal opportunity for individuals and organizations to harness the full potential of the ICT industry in Sri Lanka while also gaining a deeper insight into the industry's unique business drivers and logistic needs. The event I'm sure will help generate awareness among the general public at large about the unlimited possibilities of this dynamic industry"

Infotel 2008 will not only display hardware and software solutions but will also feature a 'career section' which will serve as a career guidance centre for job seekers and students aspiring to take up ICT for their higher studies. The event, which will be held in conjunction with the national ICT week, will be an effective meeting place for both service providers and prospective local and foreign clientele.

"Infotel 2008 will be an ideal platform to showcase the combined strengths of the ICT industry of Sri Lanka and to pitch this message onto the international arena. It will highlight the enormous growth potential in the country and the comprehensive policies, infrastructure and conducive business environment in place to fuel and sustain this growth," said Minister for Science and Technology Hon. Tissa Vitharana.

The 10th International IT Conference (IITC) organized by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) and Cyber Security Week are other events that will be held as parallel events to Infotel 2008. e-Sri Lanka segment which is a new addition to the event, aims to create awareness among the general public to use more online services for their requirements.

Infotel 2008 will comprise of over 250 stalls and nearly 25000 guests are expected to participate at the event.
