In its continuous efforts to uplift the ICT industry in the country, Dialog Enterprise Solutions, an integrated business division of Dialog Broadband Networks (DBN), has come forward to sponsor the National Best Quality Software Awards 2008, the only national competition of its type in Sri Lanka. The event is organized by the British Computer Society, Sri Lanka section.

The competition which marks its tenth anniversary this year, has made a remarkable contribution to the ICT industry in Sri Lanka by recognising and promoting exceptional local ICT achievements, since its inception in 1998. The annual event has also played a significant role in improving the standards and quality of locally developed ICT products and services while creating a new gateway to the global ICT market.

Speaking about the sponsorship, Mr. Kavan Ratnayaka, Chief Executive Officer, Dialog Fixed Telephony & Broadband Services said, “As a company which has made extensive investments in introducing world class broadband technologies to Sri Lanka, we are extremely proud to be part of this prestigious event which recognizes and supports local ICT achievements. Software applications form a key component of the ICT industry and we would like to commend BCS, Sri Lanka branch for fuelling its growth by creating a platform for local Software developers to showcase their achievements at both national and international levels.”

The National Best Quality Software Awards are judged by an expert panel of judges from diverse disciplines including IT, Engineering, Management, Accounting, Marketing etc. from the Private Sector and Academic circles. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented to the winners of six categories ranging from Applications and Infrastructure tools to Media and Entertainment Applications. They will also be eligible to compete at the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) which is an international awards program initiated to increase ICT awareness in the community and assist in bridging the digital divide.
