Ahinsaka Mervyn made Angulimala: Lalkantha

JVP Parliamentarian, K. D. Lalkantha is of the opinion that Minister Mervyn Silva is kind and innocent but has been corrupted by the people holding power at Temple Trees.

The JVP parliamentarian made this comment while addressing the sixth anniversary and annual general meeting of the workers union of the Cultural Triangle in Anuradhapura. 

“Mervyn Silva is like Ahinsaka in one of the Jathaka stories, but he was made a Angulimala by his gurus at Temple Trees.

Only an innocent man could be changed to a vicious person like Angulimala. The President can’t make Angulimalas out of those high ranking ministers in the cabinet, so he uses people like Mervyn.

He is doing what the President wants him to do. If not by now the President could have chased him away from parliament because of his conduct.

But having appointed him from the national list the President won’t remove him,” Mr. Lalkantha alleged.

Mr. Lalkantha further said in the past the people could manage with their monthly wages and live a decent life but today these people have to face severe hardships and have become completely helpless.

“The cost of living has gone so high that people cannot survive and for everything the government says it was because of the war. But President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his team is benefiting by increasing the number of Ministers,” Lalkantha claimed.

“Waste, corruption, fraud and crime are all over Temple Trees. It is a den of thieves. It’s not only a den of thieves but thugs as well and it is where Mervyn Silva is and it is from there that he creates all the trouble to others,” the JVP MP added.
