Bogus foreign employment agencies which have been operating for several years in the Kandy district have been raided by the Special Investigation Unit of the Foreign Employment Bureau (FEB).

According to Foreign Employment Bureau sources the agencies were operated under the guise of boarding agencies using the name of Foreign Employment Promotions and Welfare Minister Keheliya Rambukwella as a cover.

The four bogus agencies all luxuriously fitted and operating for several years were raided by a special team of the FEB last week, FEB Chairman Kingsley Ranawaka said.

The bogus foreign employment agencies were identified as Fing Lanka in Yatinuwara Road, Kandy, Trans Asia in Kiribathkumbura, Lasan Enterprises in Katugastota and an agency at a house in Gurukele, Galaha.

The Bureau expects public support in nabbing such illegal agencies operating island wide.
