Northern Muslims are living like gypsies

The northern Muslims are living in refugee camps like a wandering tribe, said the Rehabilitation Minister, Rizad Badurdeen in the opening ceremony of a peace secretariat for the northern Muslims at Puttalam Thillayady.

The northern Muslims never stood against the aspiration of the Tamils. But they were driven away and now they are in refugee camps as gypsies. They wish to resettle in their own places and in live with peace and harmony as they are suffering for the last 17 years.

Six rounds of talks were held to solve the ethnic conflict but the Muslim issue was not taken up. Like other peace secretariat this Muslim Peace Secretariat is also being opened to take the problems of these Muslims to the International Communities and this is the motive of this secretariat, he said further.
