Enumeration of Sri Lankan refugees

image  The Chennai authorities have taken a statistics of Sri Lankan refugees in Tamil Nadu. People started to flee from their areas of Sri Lanka towards Tamil Nadu in January last year because of clashes. So far the number has resin to over 20,000.

The people, crossing Palk Strait is continuing but people escaping from Mandapam refugee camp and returning to Sri Lanka is also continuing. So far around 200 refugees had returned, it is learnt. In this backdrop, a team of 4 officials conducted an enumeration in Chennai a few days ago.
