Issue of National Identity Cards to students of G.C.E. Ordinary Level, sitting the examination this year, will be a priority according to A.G. Dharmadas, Commissioner of Registration of Persons Department. NICs will be issued within a short period of time.
The students who don’t complete 16 years of age by the 15th of October are required to apply for the NICs through their school principals.
Students appearing for the examinations have to produce their National Identity Cards to establish their identities. As such, this document will have to be obtained particularly by the students for the establishment of their identity.
