Doors for Peace Talks remain open - President Mahinda Rajapakse
Although the fight against terrorism is in progress on the one side, the doors remain open for peace talks on the other side, said President Mahinda Rajapakse during his address at a function in connection with the inauguration of a ‘Military Village’ at Tangalle.
The present war is not one that is particular to either the Defence Secretary or to the three forces of the country, but to the country as a whole. Certain section of the people simply ignores the part played by the security forces, but sees a tremendous appreciation of their achievements by the international world.
Lately the youth showed much hesitation to join the forces but now that trend has changed. Now they join in large numbers. The President said that despite progress in the battlefront, the doors for peace talks with the LTTE are remaining opened.
