Top UN official to visit Sri Lanka in December

The UN Commissioner for Human Rights Affairs of the Internally Displaced people, Walter Helin is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka according to the Minister for Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe. 

 

Walter Helin, on an official invitation will be staying in Sri Lanka for three days from 16th December. The UNHCR looks after the welfare of thousands of internally displaced people in Sri Lanka. The visit of the UN representative has raised high hopes as the welfare of the IDPs is considered a top priority.

 

Walter Helin during his stay in Sri Lanka will visit the refugee camps to see for himself, the existing facilities offered. He will meet and discuss matters with high government officials and civil society members including the Aid Groups.
