Indian coastal police on patrol duty saved the Sri Lankan refugees left on the third sand bank by the boatmen last Wednesday. The boatmen on their way to Thanuskody from Vavuniya, Iluppaikulam, dropped them there.

The police took them to the Mandapam Camp.

At the same time Indian Customs detected a gun-producing machine concealed under the sea at Uchchipulli area of Tamil Nadu Ramanathapuram.

The customs found a suspicious floating plastic object in the sea and the plastic was tied to rope. When they searched under the sea this machine was found. This machine weighs 1 ½ tons. This machine was manufactured in the Rajkot Area of Gujarat State. This was to be transported to Sri Lanka for the LTTE by the businessman, the customs officers suspect.
