Impersonator arrested

A person who was attempting to obtain a false identity card was arrested by the police.

The impersonator was Arumugam Ravichandran, 20 years of Galle Wandurambe. His father was a Tamil but mother a Sinhalese. He has attempted to obtain an identity card in a Sinhalese name in order to join the army. To hide that he was a Tamil he has asked his friends to call him as Ravichandra.

He has submitted a bogus birth certificate to the Grama Officer of this area to join the army. The Grama Officer suspected the birth certificate and informed the police. The Galle magistrate ordered to remand him till the 12th, when he was produced before him by the police.
