The government has made arrangements for the grama niladharis in Jaffna to begin work once again.

The grama niladharis had met Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda recently and had placed before him the dangers they face at their places of work.

In addition, the officials had urged the government to utilise their services within the Jaffna District. They had also expressed their unwillingness to work in the uncleared areas. Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry Secretary Nelson Edirisinghe told The Morning Leader that Minister Devananda after discussing the issue with Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Karu Jayasuriya had obtained the Minister’s approval for these grama niladharis to serve in the Jaffna District.
