Lands liberated from LTTE for public

The 50 acres of farmland, liberated from the LTTE in the Batticaloa district will be divided among the farmers of the area, said the ASP, Santha Ratpitiya of Kokkotticholai area.

This land belongs to the farmers of the area and the LTTE had taken them forcibly. Now we have taken steps to hand over the land to the original owners and we have communicated with the higher officials in this regard, he said further.

The A 5 route, which is closed, now will be opened for the public very soon. The land mines buried in these areas are being cleared.  STF camps are being set up at Pullumalai, Velikandiya, 78- milepost, Thumpalancholai, Marappalam, Karuppupalam, Iluppadichenai, Chenkalady and Karadiyanaru to strengthen the security of those areas.
