The government is to redeem the Mullaitivu and Kilinochchy districts from the LTTE’s clutches and restore democracy there too, said the Prime Minister, Ratnasiri Wickramanayake in a meeting with the UK Parliamentarian of Common Wealth held at Temple Trees on Monday.

The eastern province was completely released from the LTTE and democracy is being restored there. Measures are being taken to hold Provincial Council election in the east very soon. Plans are underway to develop the eastern province and make the people of these areas partners of the development.
