Troops have uncovered a haul of weapons buried in Meeyangolla in Thoppigala.
The army uncovered the weapons in a search operation. The media centre for national security says the haul includes 85 high power claymore mines and 41 T56 firearms.
These weapons had been buried for re-use by terrorists fleeing advancing troops in Thoppigala.
Meanwhile, five terrorists have been killed in two confrontations in Mahumalai. The media centre says 5 LTTE bunkers were completely destroyed in the confrontations that took place on Wednesday.
Five wounded soldiers are receiving treatment at the Palaly hospital.
