Limited operations continue to consolidate power in Kilali and Muhamalai

The Media Centre for National Security said the tigers had already retreated to their 2md Defence Line at Muhamalai.

The LTTE should completely halt attacks to ensure security of the civilians in the area. Therefore, the troops should secure the 2nd Defence Line of the tigers. It is important that the troops should take control of this Defence Line. The Media Centre said the tigers are unleashing attacks on the forces. In the meantime, government troops were successful in  recovering a large stock of weapons and equipment from Muhamalai during a search operation at the Forward Defence Line. The troops had so far succeeded in consolidating power in areas surrounding Muhamalai.

The armed forces have successfully repulsed an attack by the LTTE at Navatturai in Valachchenai. One tiger was killed. The attack took place at 2.15 this afternoon.
