Sri Lanka Insurance supports SPEED 2006

Sri Lanka Insurance reiterated its commitment to the sporting arena with the SPEED season hitting the tracks this September. SPEED with RUHUNU co – sponsored by Sri Lanka Insurance’s Formula Plus Motor Insurance Policy in collaboration with the RUHUNU Motor Sports club, raced off to the tracks in Katukurunda last week.

SPEED with RUHUNU a one day event which kicked off successfully at Katukurunda was the start of a series of racing events. SPEED@Katu was the follow up event which set off on the 10th of September with the participation of some of Sri Lanka’s top notch drivers namely: Dinesh Dheragoda, Rizvi Farouk, Rohan de Silva, Dinesh Jayawardena, Dinesh Senanayake, Yoga Perera and Shehara Jayawardene.

Both SPEED meets will qualify for SPEED CHAMPIONS 2005/2006, which would culminate in a grand finale at the DROME in Battaramulla on the 22nd September. The winners of each class will receive cash prizes of Rs. 100,000 and a souvenir trophy designed specially for this year’s event, which would draw to a fitting finale of the SPEED season for this year.

This years SPEED season included Group SLN Cards, One Make Classes, FIA – N 1600cc & 3500cc, SLA modified 1050cc up to 1400cc / 1400cc up to 1600cc, Group F – Pre & Post, SL-H & Group SL-GT and Novices 1500cc which also included sub categories.
