People gave mandate to devolve power to North East within a united Sri Lanka – President

President Mahinda Rajapakse has stated that people gave mandate to resolve the North East problem by devolving power within the united Sri Lanka and the government is taking steps to execute the same.

The President while pointing out that sections which do not bear with the government’s development plans oppose military actions on Kilinochchi, said the budget is presented in such a way to prevent our wealth from going out of the country.

The President reiterated that the responsibility of protecting the motherland and its people rests with him and therefore the eradication of terrorism takes priority. He vowed to continue with measures to destroy and completely annihilate terrorism.
