Q- Branch Police have apprehended a truck, laden with raw materials for the manufacture of bombs, while speeding towards Rameswaram from Madurai taken by LTTE Agents.

The cleaner of the truck escaped from the scene while the police arrested the driver of the truck near Suththanandal at Paramakudi. Bags of manure and aluminium, phosphorous, iron balls etc., which are used to manufacture bombs, were found in the truck and were confiscated by the police. The driver Subramaniam was taken into custody and Sekar, the cleaner who reportedly escaped from the scene of the incident was later arrested in Rameshwaram.

Since the arrest of driver Subramaniam and cleaner Sekar, reports of Tamil Nadu sources confirm that the contraband were to be smuggled to Sri Lanka via sea through Rameshwaram beach for the manufacture of explosives by the LTTE.
