TRO’s International Leader arrested by US Police

Vinayagamorthy, the International Leader of the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation and his wife have been arrested and kept in detention by the American Police.

It has been established that the TRO has been engaged in collecting funds from the Tamil Diaspora and the INGOs and remitting it to the LTTE for the purpose of arms purchases. The US Treasury too has recently frozen the assets of the TRO. Under this circumstance the international leader of the TRO, Vinayagamoorthy and his wife have been arrested and detained. This is a setback to the LTTE, said the observers.

Vinayagamoorthy, being considered to be one of the important leaders of the Sea Tiger Division, more exposure in respect of the weapons procurements and fund raising could be expected, the sources said.
