Health Ministry assures the high quality of all drugs registered under the ministry

The Ministry of Health says all medicines registered under the ministry is of high quality. Doctors are ordered to prescribes to the drugs to the patients on only in its generic names with effect from first of this month. There are complaints against some drug companies of importing low price drugs and selling them at a higher prices in different brand names. The government has taken this measures to safeguard the consumers from being exploited by such companies. Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva says all medicines imported by the government are well examined and recommenced by the expertise groups including professors in pharmacology. The Minister appealed to the public to ask medical practitioners to prescribe medicine only generic names.
