Minister Douglas Devananda emphasises that the government’s decision to withdraw from the ceasefire agreement is a correct decision. He points out that the CFA was pro-LTTE and victimised the Tamils. Speaking at a media conference on Monday the Minister said the CFA did not operate at the practical level.
He also noted that the ceasefire agreement did not express the wishes of the Tamils and at present the people in the north and east feel a great need for a political leadership.
The Minister added that legal measures would be taken regarding newspapers that claimed the EPDP is connected to the killing of MP T. Maheshwaran.
