President condoles

image Final rights of the late Minister D.M. Dasanayake was conducted at the Anamaduwa Gam Uda Grounds under the state patronage on Saturday evening.
Issuing a special message President Mahinda Rajapakse said Minister D.M. Dasanayake rendered a great service the country’s political sector.
His death is an irreparable loss not only to the government but the people in the northwestern province as well. The President in his message said that the late Minister had the special ability to win the hearts of the people. Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle read the President’s condolence message.

Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake in his special message said the late Minister D.M. Dasanayake was committed to serve the downtrodden people. He made an active contribution to the progress of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. The premier stated that the LTTE is conducting such assassinations to cripple the development programme of the government. Minister Dayashritha Tisera read the Prime Minister’s message.

MP Gamini Jayawickrema Perera read the message of opposition leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and Minister Milroy Perera read the message of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga in the funeral gathering.

A number of religious dignitaries, Ministers and MPs addressed the gathering.
